Table Tennis (extreme sports) As A Sport

By John Simmons

Since its inception in the late nineteenth century, table tennis has acquired a large number of enthusiastic followers, and the game itself has changed a fair game to a real sport.

The origins of table tennis, like most other games racket, are unclear. Some argue that originated in England, others say it was developed by English army officers stationed in India and others say it was played in New England. No matter where it began, the game benefited from the popularity of a way to England, on the continent and the USA during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, under different names such “gossima” and “ping pong” - the name deriving from its product by contact between the ball and racket.

In its earliest forms, table tennis was played with rackets and battledores small, light and a rubber ball, covered with a crocheted Web. At the end of 1890, the substitution of a celluloid ball for the rubber and then use in the game even more popular. Because of the simplicity of the game and lack of standardized rules and equipment, almost everyone was a good player.

In 1905, EC Goode of London introduced the rubber-face racket, which has made possible a variety of moves and turns impossible with the bat early nineteenth century. The racket was substantially the same as that used today. Despite the new opportunities that the invention of this racket provided for the establishment of a truly scientific sport, the game lost its popularity shortly after Mr. Goode innovation in the marketplace. Only Hungary were sufficiently interested players in the game to continue playing.

About 1920 there was a renewed interest in table tennis in Europe, led mainly by Hungarians who were to dominate international play until 1937. The International Table Tennis Federation was founded in 1926 in Berlin, inspired by an organization formed earlier in England, and the first set of official rules is adopted.

At that time the USA have once more interested in the game, and the American Ping Pong Association was founded in 1930. The association - and which tournaments he sponsored - encouraged by Parker Brothers of Salem, Massachusetts, which has patented the name “ping pong” a few years ago and who were therefore the only manufacturers’ official ‘ping-pong equipment in America.

Other manufacturers games room, aware of the benefits to be achieved in the production of material for this rapid growth of the sport, copied Parker Brothers product. Unable to commercialize patented under the name “ping pong,” they called their table and rackets “table tennis” equipment, and sponsored the formation of the slates Table Tennis Association.

Each organization has established tournaments and a national championship, and rivalry, fuelled by the lounge-game manufacturers, encouraged an interest in the sport even more. In 1934 finally, manufacturers have come together and the two associations have merged, that the USA Table Tennis Association. The Association is a non-commercial group with members in almost every state. It regulates the rules of the game, publishes a monthly magazine, sends the best American players to compete in amateur and World Championship tournaments in Europe, and generally promotes the growth of the game.

Table Tennis security adopted across the scene mode, and has now reached a permanent place in one of America’s most popular sports. The equipment is standard and rules are specific. The scientific principles governing the behaviour of a celluloid ball hit by a rubber-covered racket have been explored and made insofar as what was once a genteel salon Thursday that everybody a chance to win is now a fast and exciting sport , Whose champions are among the fastest and most flexible athletes.

NFL Preseason Football Handicapping Tips - Part 4
By Jerry Fox

So far in our NFL Preseason Football Handicapping Tips series, we’ve covered COACHING, MOTIVATION, and QB ROTATIONS. Next on our list is a team’s exhibition GAMEPLAN. NFLX handicapping is completely different than analyzing how teams might play during the regular season and certainly the playoffs.

For example, a team that has a successful gameplan is quite likely to play to their strength during the season in order to give themselves the best chance of winning the game. In the preseason however, is when teams are more apt to try different things; therefore,

* Play AGAINST a team that is ignoring its strength to work on a weakness.

During exhibition season its common for a team with an excellent passing attack to practice their running attack. Likewise, last years excellent running teams are likely to be doing a lot of passing. A team simply doesnt need to work its strongest stuff while ignoring its weaknesses. Running its weakest plays or the ones that need the most work won’t usually mean a lot of success.

We saw a golden “GAMEPLAN” opportunity in a previous NFLX contest between the Jets and Redskins. Washington was a 3-point home favorite, but we hopped on the visitors, citing:

“Washingtons coaches were very unhappy with the 2nd-line players on both sides of the ball last week, so their goal is to get the new players acclimated and work them in on the fly. Its not conducive to error-free play in this game, but winning this contest is not the Redskins goal.

‘We’re getting ready for Minnesota, and the guys coming in right now will probably not play an important part in that game, so we can’t stop now,’ OC Al Saunders said.”

Indeed, New York was keen on competing on the scoreboard in this contest, as they coasted to a 27-14 victory, proving PRO INFO SPORTS clients with a winning NFL Preseason selection.

Other NFL Preseason Football Handicapping Tips related to a team’s GAMEPLAN are:

* Play ON a team with more roster spots open, especially early in the preseason.

They will tend to get the better backups into camp. Teams with more roster spots open are usually teams that had poor records the year before, often preseason underdogs.

* Play AGAINST a favorite off a playoff season that figures to be playoff bound again with basically the same team, especially early in the preseason.

Teams with most of their roster spots already filled usually lack quality free agent rookies. There simply arent a lot of positions open on those type of teams, making them unattractive to the better free agents the ones with options to go to more than one training camp.

* Play AGAINST a team that will not have key starters playing against an opponent not resting its key players.

Some coaches dont see any need to risk undue injury during the exhibition season to those players whom he already knows will be starters.

* Play AGAINST a team that is working on developing a cohesive offensive line.

Here, an established starting QB (and RB) is likely to be risked little behind an inexperienced line of rookies and free agents. In this situation, we are presented with untried linemen trying to protect a 2nd-string QB and block for 2nd-string RBs.

* Play AGAINST a team thats auditioning a new center.

Due to every play requiring a successful snap and the centers role of making blocking calls for the entire offensive line, the center is easily the most undervalued position on the field by bettors.

In our final article on NFL Preseason Football Handicapping, we’ll cover some miscellaneous preseason football handicapping tips.
