Learning Water Safety For Children (extreme sports)

By Rachel Yoshida

Keeping children safe when they go swimming has always been a big problem for parents with children. Children are naturally curious about water. In the bath tubs at home to swimming pools in your own back yard to the creek outside your home or down the street, children are drawn to the magnificent element.

Did you know your child or you, for that matter, can drown in six inches of water? Never put a radio or any cords near water as they could be knocked into your water, and you would be electrocuted or worse. If you got hit on your head and was knocked out, a fall into the water with just your face submerged could cause you to drown. If you were by yourself you would most likely drown, so always have someone with you.

Never let your children go playing in water by themselves. You must keep a very close eye on them because they are so small and very curious. If you can’t teach them to swim, there are several places to take them where they can be taught, such as the city pool, the YMCA, or an indoor pool that is open during winter or sometimes during school in PE classes. Never go or let your kids go swimming by themselves. Always take someone with them, just in case. If you go swimming in the creek, be careful of snakes and other animals that live in those creeks.

Never put your child in a boat without a lifejacket. Always make sure that life jacket is the right size for that child and that no damage is done to that life jacket. If the life jacket is not the right size or it is damaged, do not let your child on the boat. Don’t let this child or the person driving the boat to think it will be okay. Children are not careful, and they only think about having fun. It is up to us to keep them safe when swimming or just playing in water.

Water balloons can be fun when they are done right. Never let your child throw one at your face because when it breaks upon hitting your face, you could choke on a piece of the balloon. Even a regular air balloon in water can be dangerous. If you really and truly want your children safe and have fun at the same time, always remember to put on a life jacket on a little child who doesn’t know how to swim. Always be with them in the water or keep them in view when out of the water.

Bass Fishing The Mississippi River Make A Great Trip
By Rachel Yoshida

It is so much fun to go fishing in the Mississippi River because there are lots of bass to catch. You can fish by yourself or with a couple of friends just to relax and have fun.

There is so much excitement when you fish. In fact, the time literally just slips away. The bass are sometimes hard to catch, and other times, it is easy. It depends if they want to put up a fight with you that day. So get your boat ready or sit on the bank. Grab everything you need for the day or the week. Make sure you pack a lot of bug spray because of the mosquitoes and the other bugs. They can carry diseases like West Nile Virus!

The best time is when the water is calm and cool. Watch the weather channel for news updates on storms and bad winds. Make sure you bring lots of food and water with you. Also make sure you have your fishing pole and a map with you when you go on the trip.

The Mississippi River is a big river, which stretches on for miles and miles. Just find a good spot to stop and fish your catch for the day. You may want to stay out there forever because of the good time you are having fishing, absorbing the beauty of nature, and seeing the beautiful waters.

If you decide to swim in the river, then be careful. You have to watch out for undertows that can pull you in and cause you to drown. The Mississippi River is also home to a lot of snakes that can bite you and cause great injury and even death if you are not taken to the hospital quick enough. There are also wild animals in the woods, so watch out for them. In the river you can go boating, skiing, swimming, and so much more.

You can jet ski, but exercise much caution when doing so. Make sure you do not throw your cans or food wraps into the water because you can contaminate your fishing water and create a hazardous environment for other people and other animals. You do not want that to happen.

When you catch that big bass, stick them in a bucket full with water to keep them alive until you eat them. Bass tastes really good - just watch out for the bones! Don’t throw the rest of the fish on the ground because it will bring animals in you camp. Instead, keep all of your trash in a container of some sort until you can throw all of your trash away. Enjoy your trip, and have the time of your life!
